The Wolf and the Women

Johannes Stötter - Body Painting at its Best

Let it be animals or plants, Johannes Stötter is one of the best body painters in the world. With his 2013 portrait of a frog, he gained fame. In autumn of last year, with "The Wolf" he again created a fascinating picture, composed of several women.

Johannes Stötter is a true artist. He was born into a family of musicians in southern Tyrol in Italy. Besides his body painting art, he plays the violin, the flute and the bouzouki in the Celtic national band "Burning Mind". After his studies of philosophy at the University of Innsbruck in Austria, he initiated several projects in which he combined art with music.

In 2009, the Tyrolean joined the international body painting community. He also took part in the first Bodypainting World Championships. Stötter won many prizes in the following year. In 2012, he became World Champion of Bodypainting, vice world champion in 2011 and 2014. In the years 2011 and 2013, he won the Italian championship. Stötter also established his reputation internationally. In 2013, he emerged as winner of the North American Bodypainting Championship of the USA, of Atlanta and of Georgia. The “International Fine Art Bodypainting Award” in 2014 rounded off the success.

The public knew him in 2013 due to a portrait of a tropical frog consisting of five human bodies. As a result, television and magazines around the world reported about him.

Since the cosmopolitan grew up in the high Alps, views of nature are the main characteristics of his artworks. His galleries shows, for example, animal illusions, stone or tree illusions, seasonal or even musical illusions. His philosophy behind this is the connection in between man and nature. He conserves the works, which are – unfortunately -, ephemeral, in images for eternity.

Johannes Stötter is currently teaching the art of body painting at the World Bodypainting Academy, the World Bodypainting Festival and the Yoni Academy. He collaborates with the agency "Wb-Production", which is exhibiting his works globally. We are looking forward to his next artworks and will indulge ourselves at the World Bodypainting Festival, which will take place in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee from 28th to 30th July 2017 in Austria.
