Caio Vilela throws a Mega Project about Football in Russia
Caio Vilela was born in São Paulo. He began his career as a text and photojournalist for the biggest newspaper in Brazil, for the "Folha de São Paulo". Besides, he worked as an Amazon travel guide, took Brazilians to Nepal or to cultural trips to Iran and took Brazilian students on geographical and biological field trips throughout the national parks of Brazil.
He took pictures of the most beautiful places in South America on his travels. Over time, he drew the attention of the editors of well-known magazines, who invited him to cooperate with them. In the past years, he has beeing booked several times for photostories of National Geographic.
One of his most important projects is "Football Without Borders", for which Vilela shows the world how street football is beeing played in different countries through the art of photography. He traveled to Russia for 30 days to take pictures in 2013. Recently, he was there again for 30 days photographing photo essays on Russian football in its natural environment. His journey took him from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Krasnoyarsk, Tuva, Baikal, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Khabarovsk, Birobijan and Bashkortostan. Until the end summer of 2017, the master photographer aims to photograph football children from the Caucasus to the Arctic, from Vladivostok and back to St. Petersburg.
Particularly, the original football stands in the foreground for the artist. Vilela captures the beauty of sport through natural-looking moments. Many pictures happened when children joined spontaneously for a fun football match in front of monumental buildings in their cities.
In previous photo collections, there have already been fascinating photos of young soccer players from Costa Rica, Turkey, and India and in front of the background of Stonehenge. Caio Vilela now compiles the photo material of his current journeys for future exhibitions and perhaps launches a new book at the beginning of 2018. We will keep you up to date!
