Rock am Ring back at the Nürburgring
This year's Rock am Ring Festival will take place from June 2 to 4, 2017, at its old location at the Nürburgring. Many Ring rocker welcome this decision. After the festival proceeded for the first time at the new location on the Federal Armed Forces airfield Mendig (district Mayen-Koblenz) in 2015, festival visitors had little luck in 2016. Rock am Ring in Mendig was canceled on the second festival day due to severe thunderstorms.
Now again the original Ring. The director of the big event Marek Lieberberg said in a statement that the shift was inevitable to implement Rock am Ring. However, millions had been invested in order to ensure the permissibility in view of environmental, species and water protection. One now meets all legal requirements for the Ring.
The organizers can now focus on the essentials. The program will start in the late afternoon. Camping will be possible from 30 May 2017 on in the afternoon. The festival site will close on Monday.
