Carl Cox was born on July 29th, 1962 in Manchester. His musical roots, as it was common in the black community of the 60s, were soul, funk and jazz. James Brown led the way with his rhythms and harmonies for him. At the age of 15 years, Cox then bought turntables and went on tour as a mobile DJ. In the early 80s he played disco and electro. He was fascinated by the Chicago House music. He has worked on projects alongside Paul Oakenfold, he was resident DJ in the Zap Club in Brighton and played on the Sunrise rave in 1988. Already at that time he discovered his love for DJing with three turntables. Cox` techncial skills are impressive. His subtle switches in rhythm and style shifts establish the reputation that Carl Cox is one of the world's top DJs.
His mix album F.A.C.T. was released in October 1995, is considered as the first mix CD of a DJ and was sold over 200,000 times worldwide. In England he was awarded with gold for the best selling underground dance album. The rave DJ Carl Cox thus became the international techno and dance legend. In 1998 he then founded his own label "Intec Records" on which Techno producers such as Oxia, Marco Bailey or Deetron released their tracks.
For 15 years now Carl Cox as a promoter, programmer and host organizes techno raves at Space Ibiza. His weekly residence has become one of the most popular nights of the island. He also maintains clubs where he sets up trendsetting line-ups to inspire the masses and to spread his sound.
On May 11th, 2016 Carl Cox will play house beats in the House of Parliament, at the home of the British government. The charity event will use the power of dance music, to raise money for children in war and conflict zones of the world. The appearance in the seat of the British government will be another highlight in his impressive career.
